Following a warning from the red and black taxi drivers to take several main avenues of the city as a protest against what they claim is the lack of response from the authorities who are seeking to remove them, they reached the San Ysidro checkpoints.

The taxi drivers blocked the San Ysidro checkpoints, preventing normal traffic flow into the United States, which led to clashes between checkpoint users and street vendors.

The drivers exchanged words with motorists who attempted to ram their vehicles into the protesters. The confrontations escalated when street vendors intervened, demanding that the protesters move elsewhere as they were affecting their livelihoods, a request that was rejected by the protesters.

Municipal police had to intervene when one of the street vendors pulled out a knife and threatened the drivers. The vehicular crossing remains closed at the moment.
