Former governor and current senator Jaime Bonilla accused the mayor of Ensenada, Armando Ayala, of having ties to drug trafficking

Last Saturday, during a community event in the Lomas del Valle neighborhood of Tijuana, Bonilla lashed out against his former ally in the port of Baja California.

Bonilla, who himself has been suspected of having links to crime according to the current governor Marina del Pilar Ávila, pointed fingers at Ayala, alleging that he has acquired three radio stations, a purchase that exceeds his salary as the municipal president.

Bonilla stated, "Because he's involved in the massacre. They went after the delegate of San Antonio de las Minas. He was the one who was shot and blamed for going after 'El Trébol,' but that's not true. They were after that delegate who was operating drug trafficking for Armando. That's the reality. We need to open our eyes and understand that we have a narco-government."

The senator referred to the events of May 20th in the town of San Vicente when an armed group killed ten people during an off-road race, including the municipal delegate of San Antonio de la Minas, José Orozco.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the motive for the massacre was a confrontation between organized crime groups, and the primary target of the attack was a suspected drug trafficker known as Alonso Arámbula, alias "El Trébol."

Jaime Bonilla considers this version to be false; however, he did not provide any evidence to support his claims. Armando Ayala, on the other hand, has not responded to the accusations.
