In the early hours of Monday, the San Diego Police Department escalated its efforts to apprehend an arsonist after more than three dozen boats and several trash containers were set ablaze at various locations in the Mid-City area.

It all began with the first emergency call received at a residence on Highland Ave., where a fire was reported. This incident triggered a series of fires that affected multiple locations.

The suspected arsonist proceeded to set fire to approximately 36 trash bins, as well as a carport and several trash containers, within an area spanning two to three blocks around the residence on Highland Ave. This incident unfolded over a period of two hours.

The investigation is still ongoing.
