San Diego schools will maintain regular hours, but in 'rainy day' mode

The San Diego school district has announced that classes will proceed as scheduled next Monday, April 8, despite the partial eclipse expected in the region. With a tentative start from 10 a.m. to 12:23 p.m., a special protocol has been established to ensure the safety of students during the astronomical event.

Under this protocol, students will remain in classrooms during the eclipse hours, following guidelines similar to those set for rainy days. However, they will be allowed to briefly step out to observe the eclipse, provided they wear appropriate protective eyewear.

Parents are encouraged to discuss this protocol with their children, emphasizing the importance of following the instructions and restrictions during eclipse observation.

This additional precaution aims to prevent potential eye accidents in children, ensuring they understand the need to use proper protective eyewear and follow the guidelines provided by school authorities.

A mother told BajaNews that she "is satisfied with the school district's decisions to implement a protocol similar to that of rainy days."
