Nine people were hospitalized after falling from the border wall in Otay on Sunday night. Around 11:30 p.m., a large group of undocumented immigrants was attempting to cross the 30-foot wall near Brittania Boulevard and Brittania Court when the accident occurred.

The patients, all expected to survive, were transported to UCSD Hillcrest, Sharp Memorial, and Mercy hospitals for treatment of minor to moderate injuries. This section of the wall is located near the Big Toy Depot, an indoor storage facility for recreational vehicles and boats, surrounded by large empty lots.

This incident underscores the dangers and challenges faced by many attempting to cross the border between the United States and Mexico.
