Authorities from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have confirmed that one person was injured today at the commercial border crossing following an incident involving a CBP officer.

According to the statement, the injured individual is not an agent or staff member of the agency, but another person involved in the altercation.

The incident occurred earlier this morning, prompting the response of emergency medical services, as well as members of the CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility and the San Diego Police Department.

The port will remain closed for at least one hour, and heavy traffic is expected to accumulate in the Otay industrial area and Bellas Artes Boulevard. The incident caused a traffic jam extending from the Otay crossing to Tijuana International Airport, along Bellas Artes Boulevard.
