A group of female sex workers met this afternoon with the Secretary of Government, Arnulfo Guerrero, at the delegation office in the Central Zone, fulfilling a promise of dialogue after a recent protest. The sex workers had demanded greater security and the ability to continue their work without interruptions through a march in the North Zone.

During the meeting, Secretary Guerrero, accompanied by councilwoman Magaly Ronquillo, fostered an atmosphere of dialogue and respect. “I will not accept any pressure tactics against you; any official who attempts this will be sanctioned,” Guerrero stated, emphasizing his commitment to protecting the rights of the workers.

Veronica Roque, a representative of the organization Mujeres Libres María Magdalena, shared that she had felt intimidated during attempts to remove them from the streets but expressed satisfaction with the treatment received during the meeting. “I am satisfied with the dialogue and the agreement reached,” Roque commented.

The outcome of the meeting allowed the women to continue their work without disruption, and it was agreed to reduce the cost of the health cards required for their employment. Magaly Ronquillo announced that monthly working groups would be established to address the concerns of the sex workers, with the next meeting scheduled for October 25.
