The cool weather pattern will continue for the rest of the week, bringing below-average daytime temperatures, strong winds, high surf, and periods of light rain.

A low-pressure system to the north will be the first in a series of storms expected this week. Conditions will remain unsettled and cool, with temperatures staying below normal. Winds will be a key factor through Thursday.

A Wind Advisory has been issued for the deserts and mountain slopes until 2 a.m. Wednesday due to strong westerly wind gusts of up to 60 mph. Winds are expected to be strongest and most widespread on Tuesday, affecting even coastal and valley communities with gusts between 15 and 30 mph.

Wednesday will be a calmer day, with mostly sunny skies and drier conditions, though temperatures will still be 10 to 15 degrees below normal.
There will be a second chance for light rain on Thursday, but the wet weather pattern will come to an end by the end of the week.

Starting Friday and through the weekend, the weather will be dry and warm, with more spring-like temperatures in San Diego.

Coast: Chance of rain, mostly cloudy – Highs in the low to mid-60s.
Valleys: Chance of rain, mostly cloudy – Highs in the mid to upper 60s.


Mountains: Chance of rain, windy and mostly cloudy – Highs in the low to mid-50s.
Deserts: Windy and mostly sunny – Highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Rain accumulations today will be light, with estimates ranging from one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch for coastal and valley areas, as well as across the mountains.
