An audio obtained by Baja News reveals a detail about the exact moment César Moisés Hernández escaped from police officers

An audio recording obtained by Baja News reveals a new and troubling version of the escape of César Moisés Hernández, a highly dangerous fugitive wanted by the US Marshals and responsible for the killing of a state officer during a failed operation on April 9 in the Barcelona Residencial neighborhood.

In the audio, you can hear the voice of a worker from the C5 (the Command, Control, Communication, and Computing Center), who took calls from the officers involved. She explains that after the shootout with the State Citizen Security Force (FESC), the officers left the scene to take their wounded colleague to the hospital, leaving Hernández without direct supervision.

“He shot at them, they got scared, and instead of calling an ambulance, they took the injured officer themselves and left him [Hernández] alone,” the worker is heard saying.

She criticizes the official story, claiming, “They told the story backwards,” and suggests there were serious failures in the operation’s protocol and coordination. Despite the presence of drones, helicopters, and units on foot, no one managed to stop Hernández from escaping.

According to her account, the fugitive ran off “in his underwear,” changed clothes in a nearby vehicle, and later disguised himself in a yellow street sweeper uniform to avoid being noticed.

Who is the fugitive?

César Moisés Hernández escaped from a California prison on December 2, 2024, where he was serving a life sentence for murder. His criminal record includes drug trafficking, possession of firearms, body armor, and robbery.

The US Marshals are offering a $35,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
