A serious traffic collision has forced the complete closure of all southbound lanes on Interstate 805 just north of National City, according to Caltrans officials.

The crash, first reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) around 8:50 a.m. Saturday, occurred north of 43rd Street and involved multiple vehicles, including one that was found overturned on its side.

Authorities have confirmed at least one fatality. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

Video footage submitted by Instagram users @shantel.faithh and @pmedina39 shows a chaotic scene with multiple severely damaged vehicles and emergency crews working actively at the site.

CHP and Caltrans are urging drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes, as heavy traffic delays are expected. No estimated time for reopening has been provided.
