A well-known taco restaurant in San Diego was forced to close its doors on Saturday after a gas leak was detected during one of the busiest times of the week.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, around midday employees at Tacos El Gordo, located on Palm Avenue in Chula Vista, triggered emergency protocols after a carbon dioxide (CO2) alarm went off and evacuated the building.

When firefighters arrived, they confirmed there was no CO2 leak, but did find a small natural gas leak in the kitchen.

The restaurant remained closed for the rest of the afternoon.
