The community was reminded not to carry false identification documents, to avoid confrontations with authorities, and, in the event of a detention

As part of the Fiestas Patrias celebrations, the Government of Mexico, through its consular network in the United States, issued a special advisory addressed to the Mexican community planning to attend mass events this weekend.

The consular representation urged nationals to prepare responsibly and safely, taking into account preventive measures related to security, protection, and consular assistance. Key recommendations include avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, respecting traffic and public order laws, and establishing a family plan in case of emergencies.

The community was also reminded not to carry false identification documents, to avoid confrontations with authorities, and, in the event of a detention, not to flee or resist. The statement stressed that every individual has the right to remain silent, request to speak with the Mexican Consulate, and refrain from signing documents without legal counsel.

The advisory also highlighted the availability of the Consular Assistance Line (CIAM) at 520-623-7874, which provides guidance and support to Mexicans in the United States.

The release of these recommendations comes at a time when U.S. immigration authorities have intensified enforcement operations. California has stood out for ICE raids that have affected hundreds of Mexican immigrants, and San Diego has been no exception in cases of deportation.
