The woman said she was transporting more than 80 bags of Sol de Janeiro products and chose to leave them behind before crossing into Tijuana, citing the risk they could be seized

An active user in social media groups sparked conversation after announcing that she decided to abandon merchandise intended for resale due to the high fees she said customs authorities planned to charge to bring the products from the United States into Mexico.

The woman, identified as Yarely González, reported that she was about to cross into Tijuana through the Otay Mesa port of entry when she made the decision. According to her account, she was carrying a box containing more than 80 new bags of Sol de Janeiro products; however, fearing that she would be turned back or that customs officials would confiscate the merchandise, she opted to leave it on the side of the road.
