A pedestrian lost their life Wednesday morning in the City Heights area after a tree measuring approximately 75 feet tall collapsed and fell on them, according to local authorities.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department reported that emergency crews responded to the scene and carried out life-saving efforts; however, the individual died as a result of severe injuries. At this time, it has not been confirmed whether the victim was a resident of the area.

The incident occurred around 10:55 a.m. at 3805 Marlborough Avenue. Following the collapse, the fallen tree posed an additional hazard to nearby homes, prompting authorities to establish a safety perimeter of approximately 50 feet due to the risk of further collapse.

Additionally, two large sections of the tree fell onto the sidewalk, blocking pedestrian access. The area remains closed as authorities continue cleanup and removal operations.
