Armed suspects posing as federal authorities broke into a home; at least three similar cases reported in the Tijuana area

A couple of doctors were victims of a violent robbery carried out by individuals wearing National Guard-style uniforms in the Chapultepec neighborhood of Tijuana. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, February 4, near the Church of the Holy Spirit.

According to testimony from surgeon Carlos Altamirano, several armed men arrived in a vehicle and began banging on the gate of his residence, located at the intersection of Rosales and Cumpas streets, attempting to force their way in. When they failed to break the gate, the suspects forced entry through the doors of the home, restrained and assaulted him, and stole various belongings before fleeing the scene.

The doctor stated that the assailants posed as federal agents, as they were wearing uniforms similar to those of the National Guard. He also alleged a possible failure by local authorities to respond, claiming that a patrol unit was nearby but did not intervene during the attack.

The robbery ended when personnel from a private alarm company arrived and neighbors began to gather, prompting the suspects to flee.

The victims reported that the same modus operandi has been used in at least three other recent robberies targeting doctors residing in the area. No arrests have been reported so far, and authorities say investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.
