A series of winter storms is expected to bring rain and cooler temperatures starting this week

After several days of above-normal temperatures, the weather in Southern California is about to change. A series of winter storms will bring rain and a noticeable drop in temperatures throughout the week, with a stronger impact expected heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday will be the last warm day, with temperatures running up to 10 degrees above normal in many areas. Rain is expected to begin Tuesday evening, particularly along the Central Coast and in areas near the mountains.

This first system is expected to be relatively light, producing modest rainfall totals across most of the region. However, some coastal areas could see slightly higher amounts due to gusty winds.

Meteorologists warn that a more significant shift in weather conditions will arrive Saturday night. From that point into next week, Southern California is expected to experience more frequent rain, stronger storms, and much colder temperatures.

Authorities are urging residents to prepare for a more active weather period between February 14 and February 19 and to stay informed as forecasts continue to be updated while the storm systems approach.
