Oxxo Set on Fire; Other Establishments Close as Attempted Arson Reported at Supermarkets and Pharmacies

Businesses across different areas of Tijuana have been affected by criminal incidents reported following the death of “El Mencho,” the alleged leader of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación.

A few hours ago, a store belonging to the convenience chain Oxxo was set on fire, prompting multiple locations of the same company throughout the city to close their doors as a preventive measure amid fears of further attacks.

Likewise, the Calimax supermarket located in the 5 y 10 area was the target of an attempted arson, leading to a swift response from security personnel and emergency crews to contain the situation.

Moments ago, authorities also reported a fire at a branch of Farmacias Roma located in the El Murúa neighborhood, where firefighters are working to extinguish the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby businesses. Other types of businesses either closed early or did not open at all during what has been described as a violent Sunday.

Municipal and state authorities have deployed preventive operations in commercial zones to strengthen security and prevent further damage. So far, no fatalities related to these incidents have been reported, although some establishments have sustained material losses.

Investigations are ongoing to determine responsibility and clarify the circumstances surrounding these events. Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activity to emergency services.
