A low-pressure system will bring cooler temperatures, gusty winds, and a chance of precipitation starting Tuesday night

San Diego begins the week with a noticeable shift in weather conditions. After a warm weekend, Monday brings a cooler feel along with gusty winds, the result of a low-pressure system moving into the region.

This system will lead to falling temperatures, increased cloud cover that will replace the typically clear skies, and chances of rain across parts of the county.

Along the coast, high temperatures are expected to reach the upper 60s to low 70s. Inland areas will see highs in the low to mid-70s, while mountain regions will remain in the low 60s. Desert areas, in contrast, could approach highs near 90 degrees.

Wind will also be a major factor. Authorities have issued a wind advisory that will take effect Tuesday at 2 p.m. and remain in place through Wednesday morning, mainly impacting mountain and desert regions. In those areas, gusts could reach between 40 and 60 miles per hour. West of the mountains, winds will be milder, with gusts of 15 to 20 miles per hour, gradually easing by Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday is shaping up to be one of the coolest days of the week, coinciding with Earth Day. Rain chances will increase starting Tuesday night, although precipitation is expected to be light and primarily concentrated west of the mountains.

Looking ahead to the weekend, forecasts suggest another low-pressure system may approach the West Coast. While there is still uncertainty regarding its exact track and timing, it could bring another drop in temperatures, gusty west winds, and an additional chance of light rain.

Forecast high temperatures for Tuesday:

  • Coast: 69–72 °F
  • Inland valleys: 69–74 °F
  • Mountains: 61–70 °F
  • Deserts: 85–90 °F
