Shooting at Chula Vista Walmart leaves teen dead after parking lot fight

Suspect turned himself in after allegedly shooting the 18-year-old Tuesday night
A teenage boy was killed Tuesday night following a shooting during a fight in the parking lot of a Walmart in Chula Vista, authorities said.
The incident was reported around 10:30 p.m. at the Walmart located on Eastlake Parkway. When officers with the Chula Vista Police Department arrived at the scene, they found the 18-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to investigators, the suspect was involved in a physical altercation with the victim before allegedly pulling out a handgun and opening fire.
Police said the suspect later called 911 and turned himself in to authorities.
The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Thomas Perez, who was booked into county jail on a murder charge.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members.
The investigation remains ongoing.
