One of the iconic players of Xolos de Tijuana is undoubtedly Juan Carlos Núñez, who this past weekend suffered a severe injury while defending the colors of Titanes FC during the latest round of the Sabatina League for players aged 40 and over.

The injury occurred in midfield when an opposing player attempted to chip the Titanes FC goalkeeper. The player arrived with excessive force just as the ball was about to reach Juan Carlos Núñez. Seeing this, the former “Canes Aztecas” player tried to pull back his leg to avoid contact, but ended up colliding with the opponent, resulting in the injury.

The injury was no less than a fracture to both the tibia and fibula, with recovery time, according to experts, expected to take approximately 12 weeks.

After his retirement, Juan Carlos Núñez chose to stay in Tijuana and continues to play regularly in the top leagues, not only in the city but across Baja California.
