The final game of the series was held at Dodger Stadium

The San Diego Padres defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3 last night to avoid a series sweep at Dodger Stadium, part of the 2025 MLB season.
As had happened throughout the series, the Padres struck first — this time with a solo home run by Xander Bogaerts in the second inning.

San Diego added another run in the fifth, when José Iglesias hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Bogaerts to score.

In the seventh, Jake Cronenworth extended the lead to 3-0 with an RBI double that once again brought Bogaerts home.

The eighth inning proved decisive for the Padres. They added two more runs — the first off an RBI single from Gavin Sheets that scored Luis Arraez, and the second on a bases-loaded walk that forced in Tyler Wade, pushing the score to 5-0.

The Dodgers rallied in the ninth and managed to score three runs, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.

With the win, San Diego improved to 40-34, remaining in third place in the National League West. Los Angeles, despite the loss, remains at the top of the division with a 46-30 record.

The Padres return home Friday to begin a three-game series at Petco Park against the Kansas City Royals.
