The legendary Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez has revealed new details about the troubling situation faced by his son, Julio César Chávez Jr., who has been the subject of an arrest warrant since earlier this year

Four months ago, the Mexican boxing world was shaken by news that Chávez Jr., son of the “César del Boxeo,” was wanted for alleged involvement in organized crime and arms trafficking. According to reports tied to the warrant, he was accused of being tasked with assaulting criminals.

In a recent interview with journalist Adela Micha for La Saga, Julio César Chávez claimed that his son was forced by the Sinaloa Cartel to participate in a violent punishment against two suspected thieves.

“They told him, ‘If you hit them, we’ll spare their lives,’” Chávez recounted. He added that his son agreed to deliver what he described as a “light hit.”

“They summoned him, and if you don’t go, they come for you. They don’t ask questions,” Chávez explained, adding, “I’d rather be their friend than have them kill me, you know what I mean?”

The boxing icon emphasized that “my son saved their lives with that hit,” suggesting that the act prevented a fatal outcome.
