The gunman, identified as 45-year-old Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizárraga, also died after an encounter with an off-duty officer who happened to be nearby.

Zamora, who had more than 152,000 followers on Instagram and was known for inspiring women in the areas of health and wellness, was on a date with 43-year-old Héctor Garduno when they were attacked outside Summa Sushi, located in the Falcon Ridge Town Center. Both died from their injuries.

Authorities in San Bernardino County reported that Tamayo Lizárraga, who was separated from Zamora and in the process of divorce, located the couple around 9:40 p.m. and opened fire. An off-duty sheriff’s deputy who heard the gunshots responded and fatally shot Tamayo Lizárraga.

Days before the attack, Zamora had shared a video on social media where she spoke about the abusive relationship she had endured, citing emotionally damaging comments from her ex-husband.

Zamora leaves behind seven children, ranging in age from 8 to 24. Her eldest daughter, Jazlynee Zamora, launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses and support her siblings. The family of Héctor Garduno, a father of four daughters, also started a fundraiser for funeral costs.
