The entertainment world is mourning the loss of James Van Der Beek, who died on February 11 at the age of 48 after a long battle with colorectal cancer diagnosed in 2023.

The actor rose to international fame for his portrayal of Dawson Leery in the iconic teen series “Dawson’s Creek.” The show ran for six seasons and became a defining drama of the late 1990s and early 2000s. His sensitive and idealistic character resonated with an entire generation, cementing Van Der Beek as one of the most recognizable faces of that golden era of teen television.

Beyond the screen, James was a devoted family man. He was married to Kimberly, with whom he built a home and raised their six children, often describing them as the greatest pride of his life.

The news was confirmed in a statement posted on Instagram by his family: “Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come.
