Citizens of Elko have reported hundreds of crickets that have made their way into homes, completely covering them. Videos circulated on social media show how the walls of houses are covered by this species, causing discomfort for some individuals and leading them to seek medical attention.

Some people have even reported having to use machinery to move debris or snow in order to remove the insects that are congregating everywhere. Leaf blowers have proven to be ineffective in getting rid of them.

Although authorities initially mentioned that the presence of the migratory cricket in the region is normal, residents have started reporting them, as it has reached a point where they are causing car accidents.

Construction of houses in areas where these insects inhabit has contributed to the problem. Therefore, the recommendation issued by authorities is to wait and be patient.
