At least two people have died and over one million are without electricity due to violent storms on the East Coast of the United States. The storms have claimed the life of a young man in Alabama, struck by lightning, and in South Carolina, another young person died after being hit by a tree while exiting a vehicle.

Extreme weather conditions have also resulted in flight disruptions and widespread power outages in coastal states such as North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Maryland. The threat of electrical storms is expected to persist in various regions, including parts of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.

The consequences have extended to the aviation sector, with thousands of flights canceled or delayed across the country. Simultaneously, more than 1.1 million homes and businesses are without electricity due to storms that have exhibited tornado, hail, and lightning potential as they moved through the Eastern United States.

The storms have triggered a series of alerts, including tornado warnings in 10 states from Tennessee to New York, affecting millions of people in the area. The situation has led to flight cancellations and delays, with the Federal Aviation Administration taking flight redirection measures and warning of potential suspensions in key metropolitan areas like New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Charlotte, and Atlanta.
