The Investigative Committee of Russia has confirmed the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the private military firm Wagner Group, in a recent plane crash. Prigozhin led a brief armed rebellion against the Russian army two months ago, which caused internal tensions.

Forensic and genetic examinations confirmed the identification of the bodies recovered from the crash site, in line with the passenger list, although the causes of the accident have not yet been clarified.

Last week, Prigozhin's presence on the passenger list of the crashed aircraft between Moscow and St. Petersburg was confirmed.

In the crash, which claimed the lives of seven passengers and three crew members, Dmitry Utkin, Prigozhin's second-in-command, and Valery Chekalov, logistical strategist of the Wagner Group, also perished.

Uncertainty about the company's future and its impact on Russian military operations persists as investigations continue.
