A video that went viral on social media shows how the Mexican Independence Day celebration in Chicago took an unexpected turn when three men began a machete fight in the middle of the street.

The situation escalated when two more individuals joined the fray, knocking down the one wielding the machete and taking the weapon to use against the others. When the fight spiraled out of control, the Chicago police intervened.

An officer aimed his gun at one of the aggressors until he surrendered and dropped the sharp object. Authorities managed to regain control of the situation and dispersed those involved.

No serious injuries were reported, and Chicago authorities detained at least 11 individuals connected to the brawl. Police also confiscated 6 firearms in the city center during the celebration.

In another unrelated incident related to violence in the city, two people were stabbed in the early hours of Sunday in the 300 block of North State, near Wacker Drive. A 19-year-old man suffered a stab wound to the back, while a 15-year-old boy sustained a torso laceration. At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with this incident, and investigations are ongoing.
