The victim was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead

A woman in her 60s died Monday evening after suffering an apparent heart attack while riding the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland, authorities said.

According to Sgt. Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department, firefighters and rescue crews were called to the park around 6:30 p.m. on October 6 after receiving reports of an unresponsive guest who had just exited the ride.

Disneyland security personnel began performing CPR before paramedics arrived and transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death. Officials have not yet released the woman’s identity or city of residence.

Sutter said there were no signs of any operational issues with the attraction, which reopened shortly after the incident.

The tragedy comes shortly after a similar case in Florida, where a man died after riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster at Universal Epic Universe, the new theme park that opened in May.

The Haunted Mansion, one of Disneyland’s most beloved attractions, opened in 1969 in the park’s New Orleans Square area. In 2001, Disneyland introduced the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay, inspired by the film The Nightmare Before Christmas.
