A woman lost her life after experiencing the amputation of her leg due to a shark attack at Melaque Beach, Jalisco. Civil Protection and Firefighters Cihuatlán responded to a report of a person having difficulty getting out of the sea in the area of the Water Park.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a woman lifeless with one of her legs severed, apparently as a result of a shark attack, as reported by the Unit through a Facebook post.

A heart-wrenching video circulating on social media shows the severely injured woman while passersby approach in a desperate attempt to assist her. Unfortunately, despite the efforts, the woman did not survive the serious injuries.

In response to this tragedy, authorities took immediate action, securing the area with Public Safety personnel while initiating the corresponding investigations. Additionally, the closure of beaches on the southern coast was announced until further notice as a precautionary measure.

"We are working in collaboration with the relevant authorities to assess the situation and take necessary measures to ensure safety on our beaches," the department declared in a statement.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining vigilance and safety in aquatic environments, as well as the need to take additional precautions to prevent future incidents of this nature.
