A southern California man, Joseph Brandon Gerdvil, 41, has been arrested for allegedly decapitating his elderly parents, Ronald Walter Gerdvil (77) and Antoinette Gerdvil (79), and the family dog. The Orange County Sheriff's Department reported that the incident occurred on July 9 in a mobile home in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call and found the scene described as "horrific." Later, Gerdvil was found chasing a maintenance worker and stealing his golf cart. He was detained after being shot by officers and taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Neighbors reported that Gerdvil had drug issues and was living with his parents. Police have indicated that he will be charged with two counts of homicide once he is medically cleared.
