A woman was shot to death during a robbery at an apartment complex in Talmadge on Monday night, according to the San Diego Police.

The fatal shooting occurred around 8:45 p.m. in the 4400 block of Euclid Avenue, authorities reported.

SDPD officials indicated that their initial investigation suggests a man forced his way into an apartment unit and robbed another man of his wallet at gunpoint. However, when a woman in the apartment tried to stop the robbery, she was shot and killed, according to the police. The victim was not identified.

Shortly afterward, officers spotted a man matching the description of the assailant and detained him for questioning. It has not been confirmed if an arrest was made.
