A six-year-old boy and his mother were shot on Monday night in Tijuana.

The incident occurred near midnight on Lomita del Triunfo Street, in the Amparo Sánchez neighborhood of Tijuana.

Initial reports indicate that the child, aged six, and his mother, identified as Cristina, 28, were both injured. Cristina was shot in the abdomen, while the boy was hit in the left cheek. Both were taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

The assailants were driving a white Ford Explorer, and as of now, no arrests have been made.

Municipal Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, where they found shell casings from both long and short firearms.
