The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of Telegraph Canyon Road at Paseo Ranchero. According to authorities, responding officers found that a vehicle had struck a person who was standing in the roadway.

Witnesses, police officers, and fire department personnel attempted to provide first aid to the pedestrian, who was later pronounced dead by paramedics. The victim is believed to be between 20 and 25 years old, but their identity has not yet been confirmed.

The driver, a 69-year-old Chula Vista resident, remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the investigation, authorities said. Alcohol is not considered a factor in this incident.

The Traffic Bureau was called to investigate the fatal collision and determine the cause of the event.
