Authorities are searching for the driver suspected in a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist dead on State Route 94 in the Lemon Grove area.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Monday, California Highway Patrol officials reported that a white vehicle struck a motorcycle on eastbound SR-94 near College Grove Way and then fled the scene.

Several witnesses reported to a news tracker that they stopped their vehicles to pull the motorcyclist out of the lanes, but the rider was then hit again by another passing vehicle.

Paramedics arrived to provide assistance, but the motorcyclist, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A detailed description of the suspect vehicle involved in the hit-and-run has not yet been provided.
