An armed attack took place at kilometer 41 of the Ensenada-Rosarito Scenic Highway, leaving one person dead and two injured. According to the Homicide Prosecutor of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), Miguel Ángel Gaxiola Rodríguez, the victims may be of American origin.

The emergency was reported to 911 by a woman early Monday morning, requesting help for several people who had been shot. This prompted a swift response from the National Guard, Cafupe, and the FGE.

The state's governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, stated that the case will be reviewed to clarify the events. Gaxiola added that they are working with foreign authorities to advance the investigation.

The prosecutor also mentioned that the attack is being analyzed, as the victims had attended a party and were pursued and ambushed on the highway. Authorities are investigating whether the incident stemmed from an altercation.

"The individuals were coming from a gathering, and we know they were being chased. We are currently working with the municipal police at the scene," he concluded.
