The shooting occurred in the 700 block of Fifth Avenue

A 46-year-old man died after being shot inside a bar located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. The alleged shooter, identified as 37-year-old San Diego resident Bryan Tyner, was arrested at the scene and is facing murder charges.

The shooting took place on the third floor of Cielo Rooftop Lounge, home to National Lampoon: The Yellow Door comedy club, in the 700 block of Sixth Avenue. The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) received multiple reports of gunfire around 5:15 p.m., prompting an immediate response to the location.

When officers arrived, they found several individuals restraining the suspect on the sidewalk outside the venue. Witnesses identified Tyner as the shooter and pointed officers to the location of a firearm believed to have been used in the attack.

Inside the club, officers discovered the victim lying in a hallway with at least one gunshot wound. Despite attempts to provide medical aid, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to authorities, the suspect and victim did not know each other prior to the incident. However, a physical altercation reportedly took place between them shortly before the shooting.

The crime scene remains under investigation as witnesses continue to be interviewed and evidence is collected. Police have assured the public that there is no active threat to the community.
