Three people were detained Tuesday night following an alleged robbery at a Ross Dress for Less store in South Bay, authorities reported.

According to Lt. Gino Grippo of the Chula Vista Police Department, officers were called to the store on Millenia Avenue after receiving reports that a firearm may have been seen in a vehicle connected to the suspects, prompting an increased law enforcement response.

Through various investigative methods, police were able to locate the vehicle on Otay Lakes Road near Telegraph Canyon Road. At that point, officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop, during which all three occupants complied with commands and were taken into custody without incident. The suspects’ names have not been released.

At this time, it remains under investigation whether a firearm was actually involved. However, authorities confirmed the recovery of stolen merchandise valued at approximately $1,000.
