On October 8th, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department responded to a call reporting an armed assault inside a person's property on Madrid Way in Spring Valley.

The suspect, barricaded inside his apartment, refused to surrender to authorities, prompting the intervention of the SWAT team and the evacuation of apartment complex residents. 

After a tense standoff that lasted approximately five hours, around 10:40 p.m., the suspect finally surrendered and was apprehended. Residents were able to return to their homes shortly after the suspect's arrest.

The suspect had taken refuge in a Spring Valley residence on Sunday night, leading to an extended standoff with SWAT officers and a heavy police presence in the area, as reported by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Authorities urged the public to avoid the area, as stated by officials.

During the incident, a domestic violence victim was transported to a hospital, confirmed Lieutenant Spock of the SDSO.

The standoff was successfully resolved, and the suspect was apprehended around 10:30 p.m., as announced by the department in a press release.
