The flames forced them to leave their homes.

A fire erupted in an apartment building in Linda Vista during the early hours of Tuesday, compelling at least 10 residents to leave their homes. The incident was reported shortly after 2 a.m. at an apartment complex located in the 7000 block of Tait Street, according to officials from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Upon the arrival of San Diego Fire-Rescue Department crews, they encountered a second-floor apartment unit engulfed in flames. Despite their swift response, the fire was contained to a single unit, but neighboring units sustained water damage. The efforts of dozens of firefighters were required to completely extinguish the fire, and the scene was cleared around 5 a.m.

Residents acknowledge the complexity of their situation as they are unable to carry out essential activities such as going to school or work. Their belongings remain inside their homes.

"We are uncomfortable at this moment, and we don't know what to do," they said.

Fire officials are actively investigating the cause of the fire, although they have confirmed that no one was inside the unit where the fire originated. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Zarraga and other displaced residents are collaborating with the Red Cross to obtain financial assistance to help them through this challenging time.
