Thousands of fans gathered at the San Diego Convention Center on Wednesday for exclusive early access as the world's largest pop culture convention officially opens Thursday

The excitement surrounding Comic-Con International 2026 is already underway in San Diego as the annual Preview Night welcomed thousands of attendees for an exclusive first look at one of the world's biggest pop culture events.

Beginning Wednesday evening, the San Diego Convention Center opened its doors for Preview Night, giving badge holders early access to the exhibit hall, where exclusive collectibles, limited-edition comics, action figures and official merchandise quickly became the main attraction.
Attendees also enjoyed the first autograph sessions, special exhibits and interactive activations hosted by major entertainment brands. Outside the convention center, the Gaslamp Quarter came alive with themed experiences, cosplay gatherings and fan events that transformed downtown San Diego into a celebration of comics, movies, television and gaming.

While the festivities have already begun, Comic-Con 2026 officially opens on Thursday, July 23, when the convention's full schedule of panels, presentations and studio showcases gets underway.

Among the most anticipated events are major announcements from Marvel Studios, which is set to return to the iconic Hall H, along with presentations from DC Studios, streaming platforms and leading publishers from across the entertainment industry.

Comic-Con International runs July 22 through July 26 and is expected to attract more than 120,000 attendees, once again generating a significant economic boost for San Diego while reinforcing its status as the global capital of pop culture during the annual convention.
