Decorative plastic pearls can detach from the footwear, posing a choking risk to children; the retailer is offering full refunds to customers

Target has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 211,000 pairs of Cat & Jack children's sandals after federal safety regulators identified a potential choking hazard.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the sandals feature decorative plastic pearls that can detach, creating a choking hazard for young children that could result in serious injury or even death.

The retailer said it has received 23 reports of the pearls detaching from the sandals, prompting the voluntary recall.

The affected sandals feature two raffia straps with gold buckles, decorative plastic pearls, and the Cat & Jack logo printed on the sole. They were sold in children's sizes 5T through 12T.

The sandals were available at Target stores nationwide and on the company's website between January and May 2026 for approximately $20 per pair.

As a precaution, consumers are advised to stop using the sandals immediately and keep them out of children's reach.

Target said customers may return the recalled sandals to any Target store for a full refund or request a prepaid shipping label to return the product by mail.

Authorities are urging anyone who purchased the recalled sandals to respond promptly to the recall notice to help prevent potential injuries.
