This measure will benefit approximately 900,000 Californians

California Governor Gavin Newsom has taken a significant step by signing new legislation that will have a positive impact on healthcare workers in the state.

The new legislation establishes a minimum wage of $25 per hour, which will be phased in over a period of ten years. This decision aligns with the vision of improving working conditions in California and complements other recent reforms in this regard. Last month, Governor Newsom also enacted a law that raised the minimum wage for fast-food industry workers to $20 per hour.

"With this new legislation, California is putting an end to wage inequality and ensuring that healthcare workers can maintain their passion for their work while covering their expenses," Governor Newsom stated. "This is a significant victory for the workers and, at the same time, for the patients who rely on quality care."

This measure will benefit approximately 900,000 Californians, who will experience a significant increase in their income thanks to these statewide reforms.

California joins other states that are taking decisive measures to address wage disparities and ensure a dignified income for workers in essential sectors.
